Michael Hering, MBA

Owner & Principal Consultant

Michael helps small and mid-market organizations make confident technology decisions. He brings nearly 28 years of experience in IT consulting and technology leadership, spanning independent consulting, local government IT, and senior consulting and executive roles. His work includes infrastructure, cybersecurity, technology planning, and digital transformation.

As Owner & Principal Consultant at ActiveCare IT, Michael connects technology decisions to each client’s operational goals and growth plans. He takes time to understand the organization behind the technology, bringing a collaborative, proactive approach to building dependable systems and lasting relationships.

Outside his consulting work, Michael serves on the boards of the Butte Humane Society and the Orland Area Chamber of Commerce.

Sarah Hering

Sarah helps people feel confident using the technology their work depends on. She leads client education at ActiveCare IT, drawing on more than a decade as a professional STEM educator and a background in curriculum development, instructional design, and classroom technology.

She creates practical onboarding programs, cybersecurity awareness training, and resources that make technical concepts easier to understand. Her approach starts with the people using a system: what they need to accomplish, where they get stuck, and how training can help. Sarah’s goal is to leave every team more capable, comfortable, and in control of its technology.

Frank James

Frank brings a calm, practical approach to keeping business technology dependable. As Senior Consultant, Systems at ActiveCare IT, he draws on more than two decades in systems administration, network engineering, and help desk leadership, supporting organizations in hospitality, dental care, and education.

His experience includes Windows Server, endpoint management, backup systems, and technical support. Frank focuses on stable environments, less downtime, and explanations that help clients understand their options. He brings the same steady follow-through to a complex infrastructure project as to a day-to-day support issue. Outside work, he enjoys family, friends, travel, and mentoring IT professionals.

Shawn Galloway

Consultant, Systems

Shawn helps clients turn complex technology challenges into practical next steps. He brings more than 20 years of experience with Microsoft platforms, networks, and cybersecurity, including senior roles supporting healthcare, education, and finance organizations across California.

At ActiveCare IT, his work includes cloud solutions, Microsoft 365, data protection, and network performance. Shawn pairs technical depth with responsive service and clear communication, helping clients understand what is changing and how it supports their business. He values long-term relationships built on reliable follow-through. Away from work, Shawn enjoys time with his family, skiing, and exploring new technologies.

Marlon Cavassin

Marlon helps keep client engagements organized and moving forward. He brings more than 15 years of experience in team leadership, client service, and operational coordination, with a background in documentation, scheduling, vendor relations, and process improvement.

Before ActiveCare IT, he managed office operations for a growing contracting company and led teams in hospitality and recreation. Today, he supports project coordination and internal operations with clear communication and thoughtful follow-through. Marlon studied Integrated Studies and Business Administration at Texas State University and is fluent in English, Portuguese, and Spanish.
